care & maintenance

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

Our furniture is supplied with a polished finish for ease of maintenance. The timber has been sealed so does not require “feeding”. Clean with a soft cloth dampened with mild dish detergent or soapy water. Dry with a soft cloth. Do not expose the furniture to prolonged humidity direct heat or use polish, oil or abrasive cleaners on the furniture.

At first, don’t place objects such as vase on the surfaces as this can lead  to discolouration of the surface. Over time, avoid allowing objects to remain too long in the same place as this could lead to discolouration. In addition, avoid exposing the furniture to major changes in temperature and humidity.Leaving a bowl of water in the room if leaving the house for a prolonged period will be beneficial

The Ancient Kauri is extracted from pasture lands in the Far North of New Zealand. Due to it’s very nature, this revered beautiful wood is used primarily for tops and drawer faces. Given its liveliness  of grain and spectacular colour, the timber it is more usually finished in Clear so as to enjoy the rich grain and life of this extraordinary wood.

Buried deep in the remote swamps of northern New Zealand, is a small forest of timber in remarkable condition whose age has been radiocarbon dated at up to 43,000 years old.The logs pictured were extracted from buried sand dunes to the west of the Kaiwi Lakes in Northland.

bespoke furniture

Whilst we make a large range of standard items which have been arrived at over years of development and application of proportional formulas, some pieces just don’t quite fit the space. If you enjoy our approach to design and the way we make things, we can make to your specification. Please enquire as to how we make that special piece for you.

refurbishment & repairs

We believe in making a sustainable product. We use the resources once to craft a piece that will last and provide many years of pleasure. Because you originally bought well, we can restore your R+H pieces close to the day they were delivered. The pieces have been designed sensibly and most parts of the product can be dismantled for rework. Using traditional hand tools and methods to maintain the integrity of the piece we can take the piece back to its original, unfinished state. Wherever necessary,  we reuse rather than replace timbers using time honoured repair techniques such as the splice. The piece is refinished to your existing or new finish, to come home a new piece. Please let us know how we can help.

replacement parts

Over the years you may need to replace your bed slats or shoes. You may need replacement hardware for your bed which you may have lost in transit. You may need a replacement knob for your chest or some more substantial, please let us know how we can help.

moving your bed

All our beds can be easily disassembled including the beds with drawers. Please let us know if you require further documentation after watching the clip below.

Have your original pieces restored by the team that made them. The refinished setting will be marked with our name confirming the pieces have been restored to the standard that is Rose and Heather. Each piece is already marked with a “birth certificate” which will tell us the month and year produced and often carries the cabinetmakers signature.
